Biography

Cheryl Weiner, founder of The Writer’s Block, LLC, possesses an impressive and
extensive history in grant proposal writing. The impetus for The Writer’s Block, LLC
was the desire to assist a multitude of organizations that provide vital programs for
the wellbeing of both humans and animals. Ms. Weiner is a strategic planner who
possesses the ability to determine long-term objectives and define the tactical
elements to achieve those goals.

A licensed Medical Technologist with a specialty in blood transfusion medicine,
Ms. Weiner managed several hospital blood banks and was an advanced
Reference Technologist for the American Red Cross Northeast Region. While
working in these medical settings, she submitted proposals to several
pharmaceutical and biomedical companies for research projects.

Ms. Weiner has had the opportunity to work with several of the Valley’s most
prestigious nonprofit organizations. She was Sr. Vice President of the Arizona
Animal Welfare League and Executive Director of the state affiliate of the National
Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI AZ). During her tenure, she successfully
completed an Arizona Department of Behavioral Health Request for Proposals
whose award solely funded the organization's resource center.

As Program Director for the Southwest Center for HIV/AIDS (formally Body
Positive), an HIV/AIDS research and resource center, Ms. Weiner administered
nineteen HIV/AIDS prevention, education and outreach programs targeted to
individuals of all ages, genders, sexual orientations, at risk levels and ethnicities.
She prepared and managed nearly $1.75M in budgets for programs and
associated staff of eighteen and submitted over 20 grants which resulted in over
$1.5M in funding for her programs.

Ms. Weiner was most recently the President and CEO of Altered Tails, a nonprofit
organization dedicated to spay/neuter of dogs and cats. During her tenure, the
agency received $150,000 from the Nina Mason Pulliam Charitable Trust for the
renovation of a new clinic.

Ms. Weiner earned a Master of Business Administration in 2000 and is a certified
grant writer. She is a member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals, the
American Association of Grant Professionals, Association of Grant Writers of
America and the Society of Animal Welfare Administrators.
